I am a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. My qualifications are: BSocSci Psychology; BSocSci Honours in Psychology; MA Counselling Psychology. I obtained my qualifications at the University of Pretoria.
My approach to therapy is eclectic, and incorporates elements of Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.
I am a trained BWRT Level 1 Practitioner
I draw on aspects of these therapeutic modalities to meet individual client needs and to create a therapeutic process that can facilitate change and growth.
One of the greatest things I have learnt is that we cannot change the way that others respond, we can only change the way that we respond to others. This response is usually what either helps us, or hinders us – and is influenced by so many factors (a lot of which we aren’t even aware of).
This is one of the aspects of psychology that makes me so passionate about the field: We can become empowered, through knowledge and awareness, to act on our worlds in ways that can improve our wellbeing. We can learn to understand ourselves so much better and become aware of so many things of which we previously avoided or were oblivious to.
I believe that therapy can assist with this journey to empowerment, through a collaboration between you and me. It isn’t always the easiest journey, and will take effort – but every step has value (even when it may seem impossible).
